Sharif Galal
Sharif Galal was born in Cairo, Egypt but grew up in the southern suburbs of Sydney before going back to Egypt to attend high school at a British boarding school in Alexandria. That's where he first started as a DJ, in Alexandria in 1985.

A year later, he was working for Radio Cairo broadcasting in English. He returned to Australia in 1988 after spending a year in London. He studied at Melbourne University and in 1989 he returned to radio, working at Melbourne's 3RRR. At the same time he started DJing around town and started writing a dance music column for Beat magazine.

In 1993 he moved to Sydney where he formed his own nightclub "Sub Club" at Kinselas. He worked for Warner Music for two years as their Dance Music Consultant. The next couple of years were spent working for SBS, both in their television and radio departments - as a researcher, journalist and broadcaster. He was part of the team that developed the television show Alchemy for SBS Radio which later became a show on television.
In 1995 he mixed a DJ set on the Triple J show Mix Up. He was subsequently hired by Triple J to fill the dance music gap left by Andy Glitre's departure. The show was named The Groove Train and he presented it for the next 11 years. The show was awarded the Dance Music Awards Best Radio Show in 2000 and 2002.

Sharif has released 2 cd's for Triple J during his time there; Mix Up Vol 1 & the Groove Train cd's. He also released a double cd "Dusk at Byron Bay" in 2003 through BMG.

As a club DJ he's played at almost every festival around the country and played at numerous venue's all over the country from Cairns to Albany and Kununara to Tassie.

He moved to Perth in 2004 where he began Beat Suite with his new friend Micah and on NYE 2007 Beach Suite was born at the Oyster Bar on the beach in North Fremantle. For NYE 2009 Beach Suite will be relocating to Hotel Rottnest.

Suite Musique is his latest venture, a record label and vehicle to release his music and that of other very talented people from Perth and around the world, that he's met during his time in the music industry. The first release on the label is the Beach Suite compilation which includes music from artists on the label, including 2 of his own and a remix, as well other local and international artists. Expect to hear a lot from Sharif and Suite Musique in the years to come.
