Rollerskates
Rollerskates is a band from Perth. They like experimental, organic hip-hop and rock.
The journey from inception to R E K K I D, their debut album, was one of eight years for Rollerskates. They began playing live in 1999, and have played alongside such luminaries of the fringe as Machine Gun Fellatio, Regurgitator, Pre-Shrunk and Gerling. They have played at two Big Days Out. Stevie fly-kicked Leigh at one of them.
Rollerskates released their debut EP in 2001 to a rapturous crowd in Perth. It featured heavy hip hop alongside bizarre B-grade science fiction explorations. The band subse-quently released the singles Poly-Ether 1944, The Movement and Gettit, all three receiving healthy national airplay.
And so, Rollerskates release their debut album R E K K I D. It‘s a textured, anarchic col-lection of sounds and words. Of guitars and drums. Of samples and synths. It’s the product of 8 years of experimentation. The band will spend the next year playing shows, producing and remixing the works of la-bel mates on their new label Suite Musique.
