Alex Koresis
Alex Koresis is a second generation Australian who grew up in the arts capital of Melbourne studying drums and percussion with Don Santin.
His first public performances were playing drum kit and tympani with the Kew Symphonic Band at the age of 11 which fuelled his passion for live performance.
He went on to play drums with various cover bands and ensembles in Melbourne, studying at University and working at the Victorian Arts Centre. In 1992, Alex collaborated with DJ’s and dancers to develop club shows, performing at venues such as Metro, Chasers and The Warehouse. A few years later he left the club scene and started writing original hip hop and dance music before moving to Perth in 1998 to pursue work opportunities.
In 2000, Alex met Paul Kofi Osei who introduced him to traditional West African rhythms. Since then Alex helped form drumming sensation AKWAABA (formerly WAADA), playing djembe, kpalongo and dun duns and was recorded on 2 albums with the band. Over the last 8 years Alex has played extensively with AKWAABA at festivals and events throughout Western Australia and supported acts such as Michael Franti and Deni Hines. In 2002 Alex recorded and toured with band Jonathan White and started infusing live percussion with DJ’s back in Perth. In 2004 he teamed up with Adam Cousins to form KAVA, a combination of DJ, live percussion and sax that currently holds several residencies in Perth and performed at Good Vibrations in 2008/2009 and supported many touring acts including Morcheeba. In 2005 he collaborated with local and international artists to form The Hybrid Collective playing organic chill out/ dance music at festivals and concerts throughout the state. Despite its popularity, the collective split and Alex joined The Essence, playing percussion to flamenco flavored hip hop at events such as Miss Teen Australia and supporting the likes of Jose Padilla. Following a successful stint with the trio he went on to freelance and play with local and international DJ’s including Regal, Vadim, Super Cozi and Mark Doyle of Hed Kandi. In 2009 he performed at Summadayze, Southbound, and Good Vibrations adding live percussion to the mix. His new love is Egyptian Tabla beats...

Randa Khamis
Born in Jordan from Palestinian parents, raised in the working class suburbs of Perth, Australia, singer Randa Khamis caught the black music bug early. At the age of 12 she was talking her way into local clubs, desperate to dance to the sounds of James Brown, Parliament, Kurtis Blow, Ann Sexton and Aretha Franklin. Totally entranced by the music she heard, Randa decided then in her early teens that she could, would, and must become a singer
During her 20's, Randa took up Belly Dancing and wanted to start combining the use of Arabic rhythms with soul/funk vocals. She moved to London and began working with Moroccan band MOMO, KINOBE and Sasha Baron Cohens' brother's band 'Zohar' singing in Arabic. But it was with Leigh Gracie's deep funk band 'Speedometer' that she spent much of her time singing, and after supporting the legend Eddie Bo, began touring with him in New Orleans, where he passed on his vast musical knowledge about performance and song writing. With this priceless experience under her belt, she returned to Perth, ready to harness her writing and recording experiences with her new band 'Randa & The Soul Kingdom'. Moula Bux is a return to her Middle Eastern roots entwined in her funk/soul vocal influences.

Rollerskates
Rollerskates is a band from Perth. They like experimental, organic hip-hop and rock.
The journey from inception to R E K K I D, their debut album, was one of eight years for Rollerskates. They began playing live in 1999, and have played alongside such luminaries of the fringe as Machine Gun Fellatio, Regurgitator, Pre-Shrunk and Gerling. They have played at two Big Days Out. Stevie fly-kicked Leigh at one of them.
Rollerskates released their debut EP in 2001 to a rapturous crowd in Perth. It featured heavy hip hop alongside bizarre B-grade science fiction explorations. The band subse-quently released the singles Poly-Ether 1944, The Movement and Gettit, all three receiving healthy national airplay.
And so, Rollerskates release their debut album R E K K I D. It‘s a textured, anarchic col-lection of sounds and words. Of guitars and drums. Of samples and synths. It’s the product of 8 years of experimentation. The band will spend the next year playing shows, producing and remixing the works of la-bel mates on their new label Suite Musique.
Moflo Leigh – vocals, samples, decks, beard
Stevie C – vocals, keys, production, chest
Jordy – vocals, guitars, noise
Rufus – bass, keys, brotherhood
Gubbs – drums, faith
