Moula Bux is a blend of ancient melodies, exotic beats, tantalizing vocals and spirited sax paying homage to the sounds funk, house, breaks and dub. Formed in 2007 after a meeting of heart, spirit and mind between Sharif Galal, Randa Khamis and Alex Koresis whenever they played together at a number of gigs and live venues in Perth and South Western Australia. It seemed only natural to start producing their own music.
The name Moula Bux came from a book they passed between them at the time called Mysticism Of Sound written by Indian Sufi teacher Inayat Khan in 1923. In it was a story of an Indian musician blessed by a Sufi faqir who was charmed on hearing his music. The faqir then gave him the name Moula Bux which means "God Bless", and after taking this name he had success wherever he went and was blessed with merit and reward, both of which are the rare gifts of God. The book states that Moula Bux became the greatest musician of his day in India, but doesn't say when that was.
First tracks released by Moula Bux were on the Beach Suite 2007 compilation, along with a remix of PTY LTD's "Funky Buddha". Two years later "Camel Crush" was included on Sheesha Lounge Vol 2, mixed by Sharif Galal for release in the Middle East. The compilation is now due for release in Australia mid January 2010. Camel Crush from the compilation is on this page for you to listen to. We've also left a couple of unfinished tracks and we'd like to hear what you think of them.
