Beach Suite 2009

Beach Suite is back for NYE 2009!! This year it will be on one of Australia’s most loved holiday destinations; Rottnest Island at the newly renovated Hotel Rottnest.

Beach Suite regular’s Sharif Galal & DJ Micah will be joined by Julius W aters of Kinobe and one of the hottest acts on the Perth scene at the moment Rythm Infinit & DJ Missile.

Beach Suite began 2 years ago in North Fremantle at The Oyster Bar. Sharif and Micah invited DJ Regal and Fdel to join them that year and managed to have a rocking good time.

Beach Suite is the Summer NYE version of Beat Suite, the weekly night that Micah and Sharif set up at the Flying Scotsman in Mt Lawley in May 2004. The music policy is all about the groove and having fun. Everything from Dub, Hip Hop to Funky Breaks and House. That policy continues at Beach Suite.

The Artists:

Kinobe

Kinobe was conceived in west London in 1998, and a demo album was quickly assembled. As a result of this tape, they were signed to the dance imprint of Jive Records, Pepper. They released three limited edition EPs for the label during 1999, ‘Planet Soup’, ‘War and Peas’ and ‘Good Migrations’.

The following year's "Slip Into Something More Comfortable" single featured a sample from From Here To Eternity, performed by Engelbert Humperdinck. The track brought the band worldwide acclaim, and became a staple of chillout compilations and was also widely used in television advertisements, and on a number of films.

Kinobe’s 2000 debut album, ‘Soundphiles’, featured lilting, funky rhythms, infectious bass grooves, epic strings and killer samples.. The album drew very favourable comment from all of the UK's dance music press, including comparisons to soundtrack composers, John Barry and Lalo Schifrin. Critics have often noted Kinobe's quintessentially British sound, a fearless juxtaposition of seemingly disparate styles, carried off with touches of irony and humour.

They repeated the formula to similar effect and success on subsequent albums Versebridgechorus?  and  Wide Open, the latter recorded in an 18th century summer house near Toulouse, France. Guests vocalists included Isobel Campbell (Belle & Sebastian), Shinehead and Terry Callier.

Following the release of Wide Open in 2005, original member Mark Blackburn left the band.  Julius Waters called on the talents of Dave Pemberton, the renowned producer and mix engineer to co-produce the new album &ld quo;Choose Your Own Adventure”, due to be released in February 2009. You ’ll get to hear s ome of it while the su n is s etting on Rottnest Island as Julu is gets the night started.

Rythm Infinit & Missile

Rythm Infinit (mc, beatboxer & vocalist) and Missile ( DJ, producer & samplist) have been scorching stages on the local circuit for just over two years now. They have proved to be a popular act  at venues and festivals around Perth. A Rythm Infinit and Missile show will have you gyrating your hips to solid beats, laughing at humourous lyrical content, and generally tingling all over from the creative energy they both exude. Their hot party vibe always leaves the crowd wanting more.

Rythm Infinit began her hip hop career in 2003 when she joined a capella hip hop outfit ‘Micadelic’  as a beatboxer. Now, her abilities have expanded to include being able to spit a hundred words a minute and sing honied hooks.  Thoughtful, provocative and blessed with a fantastic vocabulary, Rythm Infinit’s style enthralls and delights those who witness her on the mic. Recently Meng Jones (Rythm Infinit) recorded with The John Butler Trio.  Her beatboxing appears in the track ‘Daniella,’ on their hugely successful album ‘Grand National’.

Missile has been spinning tunes for well over a decade now, managing to continuously push the boundaries of broken beat music. As diverse as she is creative, her musical loves include hip hop, reggae, ragga breaks and dubstep. Although Missile often keeps herself busy behind the decks with her MPC sampler and cut records, her performance gives an energy that lifts the people and brings the fun time party vibes. In partnership, Rythm Infinit and Missile bring the freshest ragga infused hip hop, the likes of which will guaranteed make you want to dance.

DJ Micah

Ask any punter in Perth who Micah is and chances are they were probably rockin’ out to one of his sets last weekend. Micah has earned himself the reputation of one of Perth's leading DJs, through his ability to get even the coldest of feet on the dance floor, his energy and enthusiasm behind the decks and through the burgeoning scene which has grown with him over the last decade.

Micah has been a regular at Ambar Nightclub and a guest at just about very venue and festival in Perth. Regularly voted in the top 5 DJ’s for WA in any poll over the last 5 years and winning Best Breaks DJ at the Perth Dance Music Awards this year as well as the last 3 years. He also co-hosts Full frequency on RTR FM between 3 - 5pm, Mondays.

The last 3 years have seen Micah play across Australia and New Zealand and land in the UK playing at Fabric Nightclub @ The Plump DJs Headthrash night in Aug 08, Timbuk 2 in Bristol, The White House and Platform 12 at Canvas Nightclub London and at the legendary Supercharged night in Brighton in 07 & 08.

Not content with only gigging, Micah has turned to production in recent years, knocking out a remix for local producer Lokey-fu released on Q-stik records, and 2007 saw Micah deliver a massive dance floor sensation alongside Australian Nick Thayer. ‘Scrambler’, out on Passenger Recordings (August ’07) received much acclaim and even got licensed to Hit US TV show CSI NY . And most recently in 2008 remixing Journeyman & Barrcode's "No Exceptions" For Ho-Ju Records under the "Micah Black" moniker.
